MindMotion Introduces Low Power Bluetooth MM32WB0510 MCU with BLE 5.1 Support

On 19th July 2023, MindMotion launched the MM32WB0510 microcontrollers with an integrated Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) RF module that complies with the BLE 5.1 specification.

The MM32WB0510 series features an integrated BLE 5.1 RF module that operates in the 2.4GHz ISM band, and its RF front end uses GFSK/FSK modulation to support programmable frequency channels and output power. It supports communication rates of 1Mbps and 2Mbps. The software package includes support for HID and NUS (Nordic UART) profiles and provides a small form factor stack that consumes only 12KB of Flash and 2KB of RAM. The module has been tested for compatibility with common PC or mobile phone devices.

The MM32WB0510 series is equipped with an Arm Cortex-M0 core that operates at up to 72MHz. It comes with built-in 128KB Flash storage, and 16KB SRAM and integrates USB and FlexCAN interfaces for wireless or multi-interface applications such as smart homes, keyboards, mice, fire-fighting field components, power electronics, automotive OBUs, automotive sensors, etc. The MM32WB0510 is available in various packages, including LQFP64, LQFP48, QFN48, and QFN32 packages.

Core and Storage

- Arm® Cortex®-M0 based 32-bit microcontroller operating at up to 96MHz.

- Up to 128KB Flash, 16KB SRAM.

Clock, Reset, and Power Management

- The power supply ranges from 2.0 to 3.6 V.

- 4 to 24MHz high-speed crystal oscillator.

- 8MHz factory-trimmed high-speed RC oscillator.

- 40KHz low-speed oscillator.

- External 32.768KHz low-speed oscillator (with LSE Bypass function).

Up to 10 Timers

- One 16-bit 4-channel advanced timer (TIM1), each channel providing two PWM outputs including one complementary output, supports hardware dead-time insertion and emergency break when fault detected.

- One 16-bit general-purpose timer (TIM3) and one 32-bit general-purpose timer (TIM2), with up to four input capture or output, compare channels and can be used for infrared decode.

- Three 16-bit basic timers (TIM14 / TIM16 / TIM17), with one input capture or output compare channel. TIM16 and TIM17 have one complementary output, support hardware dead-time insertion, emergency break when fault detected, and integrated modulator circuit for infrared control.

- One 16-bit low power timer (LPTIM), able to wake up CPU in all low power modes except for Standby mode.

- Two watchdog timers, including one independent watchdog (IWDG) and one window watchdog (WWDG).

- One 24-bit Systick timer.

- OneReal Time Clock (RTC) module.

Up to 49 Fast I/O Ports

- All I/O ports can be mapped to 16 external interrupts.

- All I/O ports can accept input or generate output signal voltage level is not higher than VDD.

Up to 11 External Communication Interfaces

- Five UART includes one LPUART.

- Two SPI (Support I2S mode), of which SPI1 is used for communication between the core and the RF module.

- One I2C.

- One I3C slave.

- One USB Device interface.

- One FlexCAN module supports CAN 2.0B interface.

Analogue Interface

- One 12-bit Analog-to-digital converter (ADC) supports 1μs conversion duration, with up to 10 external inputs and 2 internal inputs.

- Two high-speed analog comparators.

All series support -40°C to 85°C industrial tier operating temperature range.

Hardware and Software

We provide the Mini-WB0513-OB development board for the MM32WB0510 series, which comes equipped with a 2.4GHz PCB antenna and an MM32-LINK on-board debugger. The board features several on-board interfaces including an IPEX-1 antenna holder, two USB Type-C, two 5P 1.27mm external emulator connectors, and the MM32WB0513D6N full-pin expansion connector. The Mini-WB0513-OB is powered through USB Type-C.

The software package is based on Libsamples and provides common routines such as Bluetooth stack, NUS (Nordic UART) pass-through, and HID (Human-Interface Device) service. For further profile expansion, please contact MindMotion Marketing.
